Rush Mom #1: Kelsey Hanks

Big Sis- Little Sis Each year, Rush Chairs plan events for an entire week in which our pledges have to demonstrate their commitment to joining. It is a great way to get to know the other sisters in the sorority and to become familiar with each of us. |

| First off, I want to say that Rush this year was AMAZING. All of the new pledges were extremely committed, which is going to make Alpha Kappa Sigma such a successful organization. Each new little sister showed enthusiasm and loyalty to the AKS. This year is going to be the best year in Alpha Kappa Sigma's history of existence! |

Rush is a time when women at CSB chose whether or not to want to be part of our incredible service organization. If they choose to "rush" our sorority, they become a "Pledge" and are assigned a Big Sister. For a little over a week, or during "Rush Week", pledges and their Big Sisters are required to complete a series of events (mostly service events), such as Highway Clean-Up and Tie-one-on. Social events are intertwined into rush week, as well. As a Rush Chair, or "Pledge Mom", it is your responsibility to learn each "pledge's" name, year, and additional information. This year we had over 40 Pledges, which makes learning names a nearly impossible task; however, Kelsey and I are doing a great job! Being a "mom" to over 40 young women is an invigorating and inspiring task. I absolutely love the community and relationships that are constructed through Alpha Kappa Sigma, and I am confident that the future will only bring upon stronger traditions in these areas!
