The Alpha Kappa Sigma Sorority has been apart of Saint Ben's culture for a long time. Originally, AK∑ began as a fraternity, which eventually began a co-ed organization. In time, the organization split into a fraternity and sorority; the fraternity disbanded a few years ago leaving just the sorority. This sorority is service-based and our goal is to provide service to the student body, our community and to fellow sorority members.
The name of this sorority, Alpha Kappa Sigma is taken from the first letters of the Greek words:
Arete (human excellence)
Koinonia (fellowship)
Synergia (service)
which represent the three important facets of our sorority.
