CFB Guideline Budgeting Basics
Please be specific when writing out your budget. This makes our decision
process easier!
Who needs to present their budget?
- Academic clubs that are asking for MORE THAN $500
need to submit a budget AND make a presentation to the CFB.
- Special-Interest clubs that are asking for MORE THAN
$300 need to submit a budget AND make a presentation to the CFB.
- Competition clubs, academic clubs asking for less
than $500 and special interest clubs asking for less than $300 do NOT need
to present to the CFB.
How we Fund...
- Transportation & Lodging
The CFB may only fund 2/3rds of any cost of transportation or Lodging.
(Please include in your budget the total price for transportation and
Lodging then the price at 2/3rds)
- Food
The guidelines allow the CFB to fund two food events. 1 food event must be
open to the campus and the other will be an internal club food event. (The
CFB reserves the right to set a standard for all club food events while
deliberating, the co-funding board may not pay for food at any trip.
Conference or off-campus event)
- Conferences
The CFB will allocate funds for clubs to attend conferences only if the club
provides registration or materials about the conference to the CFB before
deliberations. (The co-funding Board will not allocate more than $1800.00 to
any club for conference fees & we will not fund more than $300.00 per
student. The CFB will not fund any food at a conference)
- Clothing
The CFB may loan money to any club wishing to purchase shirts to use for the
purpose of fundraising. The CFB may fund any type of required uniform as
long as the uniforms remain in the possession of the club. The CFB may not
fund any type of personal clothing, t-shirts, sweatshirt. (The co-funding
also stipulates that any money generated from allocated funds must be used
for benefit of the campus, no monies generated in this nature may be used to
purchase personal clothing)
- Stipends/Honorariums/Donations
The CFB may not fund any type of stipend to any student or advisor of a
club. The CFB may not fund any type of gifts or honorariums for students or
advisors of a club. The co-funding board may not fund any type of request to
give a donation.
- Speakers/Comedians/Concerts
The CFB may fund a club to bring on a speaker, comedian, concert or program
of that nature only if the club has the required materials for the
performer. The club must have a date for the program, and a performer name
with a price. (The CFB sees hundreds of request for these types of events
and it is to the benefit of each club to include these in the budget)
- Large Scale Events
When a group wishes to put on an event with multiple programs, example
tundra comes alive in which there will be numerous activities and events,
there must be a breakdown of each item involved in the event. Itemize each
cost for the event with food, performer, inflatable, etc. (The co-funding
Board will not fund a request for a large event with simply the name of the
event and then a price
- Dances
The CFB may fund the cost of rental for the pub to put on a dance or
additional equipment. (The CFB keeps track of the significant amount of
dances requested and encourages all clubs to please make a conscious effort
to co-sponsor dances)
The student activity fee is designed for the use of registered clubs on
campus during the allocation process and for the purpose of student programming
and events. During budgeting keep in mind the CFB may not fund any monetary
events that apply to non-CSB/SJU students. Also attached is an example budget
keep in mind the format of the budget as it is important during our deliberation
process.
Monetary events must be planned for both CSB & SJU students to receive
funding from the CFB.
