24-Hour Play Festival The 24-Hour Play Festival, sponsored by the CSB/SJU Drama Club, runs from a Friday night to a Saturday night sometime during the spring semester. THIS YEAR’S FESTIVAL WILL TAKE PLACE FROM FRIDAY, MARCH 13, 2009 TO SATURDAY, MARCH 14, 2009. Festival participants write, rehearse, and perform plays in literally 24 hours. Writers collaborate in teams of two on an 8-minute play. The catch is that the writers have just one night to finish their script. They begin at 10:00 p.m. Friday night. At 8:00 a.m. on Saturday morning, the directors and actors frantically begin rehearsing the various scripts, for the show goes on at 9:00 p.m. no matter what! From page to stage, the entire process takes 24 hours. Hence the name. The tentative schedule Friday, March 13, 2009 9:30 p.m.      Festival Orientation 10:00 p.m.    Writers begin writing plays Saturday, March 14, 2009 8:00 a.m.      Writer/Director Meeting 9:00 a.m.      Casting finalized and rehearsals begin 6:30 p.m.      Technical Rehearsal begins 8:30 p.m.      Technical Rehearsal ends 8:45 p.m.      Doors open for public audience 9:00 p.m.      Presentation of plays begins, ready or not To register for this year’s festival, please go to our Registration page.
