Studio One

a Literary and Visual Arts Magazine

produced by

The College of St. Benedict/St. John's University

About Studio One:

Thirty years ago at the College of St. Benedict | St. John's University, a student named Clare Rossini had the foresight to create a new magazine for publishing the artistic works of authors and artists living in the surrounding area, as well as across the country.

Studio One publishes poetry, prose, and visual artwork by students, faculty, and other writers and artists across the country.  There are no specifications regarding form, subject matter, or style of art or writing submitted.  Studio One is completely student-run.  Approximately 10-15 students work on the literary judging staff, and the student editor changes yearly.

Studio One has a print run of approximately 500-800 copies each year.  The magazine is usually released in late April or early May.  Each issue is approximately 70 to 90 pages, typeset, with a soft cover.  It includes 1-5 short stories, essays, or works of creative nonfiction, 15-30 poems, and 5-10 visual art representations.  Approximately 700-1,000 works of poetry, prose, and visual art are submitted each year.
